C — Communication with Conviction
Communicate with conviction through truth and love. Elders lead the flock not through institutional decree, but by speaking uncompromised truth grounded in genuine affection and transparent living.
Acts 20:20 — “I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you publicly and from house to house.”
Ephesians 4:15 — “Speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.”
1 Corinthians 14:8 “if the bugle produces an indistinct sound, who will prepare himself for battle?”
U — Unity through Diversity
The body of Christ was designed with difference as its strength. Plural elder leadership models this directly: a team of distinct gifts, perspectives, and backgrounds bound together under the lordship of Christ.
1 Corinthians 12:14 “For the body is not one member, but many.”
Ephesians 4:3 “Be diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Acts 2:44, 46 “And all who believed were together and had all things in common… breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts.”
L — Legacy through Daily Actions
Legacy is the accumulated residue of small, faithful, repeated obedience. Kingdom culture compounds until the invisible becomes visible and undeniable.
Luke 16:10 “He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much.”
Galatians 6:9 “Let us not lose heart in doing good.”
Hebrews 13:7 “Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.”
T — Trust as Foundation
Trust is the foundation the whole house stands on, and beneath even that foundation is the trustworthiness of God Himself. Plural leadership protects the local church from the idol of a single personality by keeping Christ at the absolute center.
Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.”
1 Corinthians 3:11 No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, “which is Jesus Christ.”
Colossians 1:18 “And he is the head of the body, the church… that in everything he might be preeminent.”
U — Understanding over Judgment
Understanding is better than judgment because it is slower and builds better fruit. When sin or struggle arises, the default response of the body is not distant condemnation, but proactive, gentle restoration and patient care.
Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge so that you will not be judged.”
Galatians 6:1 — “Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness.”
1 Corinthians 13:5 “It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth”.
R — Resilience in Adversity
Kingdom culture is not tested in seasons of blessing. It is revealed in seasons of trial. A biblical church culture holds fast through persecution, hardship, and transition because its confidence is anchored in the resurrection.
James 1:3 “the testing of your faith produces endurance.”
Acts 14:22 “Strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.”
Romans 5:3–4 “We rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.”
E — Excellence through Culture
Kingdom culture produces excellence, and excellence offered as worship reinforces the culture that made it possible. When Kingdom culture is embraced, then excellence becomes the natural fruit- the sustained habit of a people who do everything as unto the Lord.
Colossians 3:23–24 — “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward.”
1 Corinthians 10:31 “do all to the glory of God.”
Philippians 1:10-11 “ so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.“
